Nipah and banana….Could we eat banana safely?

By : on : June 7, 2018 comments : (2)

So far 17 people have died in Kerala because of Nipah virus infection. We all know that a nurse who looked after a patient with Nipah also caught the infection and died. We know for certain that the culprit that caused the panic in Kerala was an infection and we know that it was ‘Nipah virus’ through lab tests. We also know that this deadly disease could be passed on human beings through animals such as Bats and pigs.

Meanwhile in the media panic has been created by postings that alleges that Nipah virus is transmitted through the bananas that is bitten by Bats.

We don’t have any proof of that, so far. Let us not be panic over scaremongering tactics of the miscreants..

Although consuming date palm sap that had been contaminated by infected fruit bats has been reported in the WHO ( World health organisation) documents

Neverthless, Please eat only those bananas without any break on the skin. All other fruits give a thorough wash.

Enjoy your yummy banana…
